Welcome to the Department of Industrial Sociology

Industrial sociology was launched in 1992, and it was established as an Institute in 2005.

The teaching programme of the Institute covers broader areas of industrial sociology, including organizational sociology, sociology of work, industrial relations and empirical research.

The Institute is involved in the following study programs of the University of Vienna:

• Business studies
• Economics
• Sociology
• Statistics

The Institute has a high research profile in the comparative analysis of organized interests, labour market institutions, the precondition for their emergence and their socio-economic effects, as well as in the methodology of cross-national comparison.
